Miss Laurence's ONE DAY HOLIDAY has stretched to a 6 day one for me! I'm late but want to share pics that I did actually have ready for her one day holiday party around the world. Be sure to check out Laurence's blog HERE to see all the amazing places around the world. Thanks so much for hosting a fantastic event!
Some pictures of some beautiful old homes right in the heart of Melbourne, Australia, literally a couple of blocks from the city buildings. I love these, (and they're worth a small fortune!)
This grand old place has been rejuvenated. How sad they need bars on the windows down below. Must get some crazies through there at night...
Across from the first homes is the Melbourne Exhibition Centre, and on the left, the modern structure is the Museum. In Melbourne there is a lot of the old beside the new. In homes I'm not so fond of people building a warehouse style ultra modern home in a street full of old period homes, not being sympathetic to the aesthetics (and history) of the area, but I know people who do it and think the old homes should be demolished. A matter of taste I suppose!!!
On my way home from the city that day I snapped some pics of some more old homes in a lovely area of Melbourne, Carlton.
This grand home above is closer to home again, it's right next door to Leroy's school next year. I'd almost kill to have this home but I don't have a spare one or two mill.....drats!
Not all homes are brick around Melbourne, there are plenty of weatherboards (my personal fave if I was to build from scratch) or as my friends in the US call it, "siding" (is that right?). Love this sweet little Californian Bungalow style home (that's what we call it). Another prohibitive price tag, sadly way out of reach for us, boo hoo!!
Thought I'd include a few homes in my suburb, that are very newly built to show people outside of Australia a few of the different styles of new homes here. The above is pretty typical of a rendered brick double storey home, you'll find tons of these in all the new estates. They're usually really big inside.
And the one above is a townhouse/unit on a regular house block. They have three of these units one behind the other. Be sure to go to Laurence's blog for some amazing homes and architecture from around the world...France....ah France....
Next party - Vanessa's Mad Tea Party! In a few weeks, Laura's Whimsical Children's Room party. So many parties, what a lot of fun!!!
Ciao for now,
Natasha xo

Well at least you eventually turn up!!! Nice tour of my fave city. Scary house prices, just like Auckland! Rachaelxo
I think this is such a great party, went all over the world already! Unfortunately I couldn't join because I was at my cousin's 25th wedding anniversary all day and night, but I wil post some photo's of beautiful homes in my hometown too, one day...
Your post gives a good impression, I think I just like older homes more than the modern ones, no matter how big, garage or not. It's a shame that people put these bars in front of the windows. I live in a 19th century monument too and my neighbours (also living in such a monument) have placed electric kind of plastic shutters, aaaaahhhhh, those people should be deported to the nearest building complex and put in a modern house (and take their shutters with them). Yes Natasha, sometimes I can be very unfriendly but not to you!! Have a nice weekend, I'm still in doubt whether to join the mad hatters tea party tomorrow or not ( a time issue, as always..)But I sure will be your guest, cyah tomorrow!
I don't think it looks all that different from the U.S. homes. The first couple of photos look more like the southern part of U.S. but typical homes in the midwest are very similar to the others. Love your tour, my sweet PINK cupcake!!
Smoochies,
Connie
I'd say very similar to US styles in many ways. It is so interesting to see how similar everything is!

I really enjoyed this post Natasha! It is so neat to see things where you are! I agree, I dont understand why people have to build an ultra modern home right next to a beautiful old home :( But as you said, I guess it is a matter of taste!
Love you,
Amy
Hi!
I s Leroy attending his first year of school already!? He is soo adorable and sweet. I do love the videos of him. We were not able to get a video recorder when our kids were young...so no sound. But we did have my husbands families old 8mm movie camera! It was a life savor for our memmeories ...which we all roll over laughing while watching now! :)
I too like "weatherboards", especially INSIDE on the walls! Seems like the beach/shore is always there that way!
Hugs,
Mary
This too.. Maybe Leroy can make one of those dot pictures to show us all!? :)
Hgus,
mary
Natasha, you are so nice to post today! I've added you to the list in large letters! I would have missed Australia if you hadn't posted!
And I re-sized the map so that it shows in full on the post too ( although I can assure you that if you clicked on it the whole world DID appear...)
You wouldn't believe the number of photos of houses I take in the car ( I don't drive in the UK, so I'm in the passenger seat always ready to take them in motion)
I like the weatherboards, I suppose it's unfamiliar to me. But I really love the wrought iron houses, they look very old fashioned, and historical, just how I like it!
Hi Natasha,
I have been on holiday for the week and just came home. First, I want to say that I hope your FIL is doing much better! I will keep him and your family in my thoughts.
I love your wedding pictures~they are so wonderful~
And lastly (is there such a word?) your Mom's quilt is just beautiful! I can see how much she loves it by the look in her eyes.

Natasha, Yep I feel dumb!! I even put your address label on the back! I did correct it! Now I had to get caught up on your posts, first off, what a precious new couple of love birds!! Second, Oh Leroy you handsome young man!! Love the umbrella and dino!! I've hung your tag right above the computer so I can always see me and Marc and your sweetness, not Victoria's oops!!! Much love and miss you! Lori

i love weatherboard homes too, with a large front patio -perfect!
Thanks for the GORGEOUS tour. :)) Such pretty homes! So cant wait to show you Southern architecture!!!
Sweet smiles!! XOXOXO
Natasha, Melbourne is such a gorgeous place. I have only been to Sydney, but a friend from Melbourne told me that it is like New York, compared to Sydney being more like California. I think he was right! I really love the look of your beautiful city and the suburbs look delightful too. I hope to visit some day. It's funny but I always wanted to live in Australia, and when we were in Asia my husband was offered a job in Sydney. Both my girls dream of going there too. Kindred spirits, you know! Karen
Love your tour Natasha....I love that first house you showed... so much character!
Don't you wish you had an endless bank account so you could just have a house in Australia...then one in americal (close to me of course lol)and one in europe! would be lovely!!
